Evaluation of a Barrier Dental Sealant in Dogs
A study of 40 healthy, randomly selected, client-owned, mixed- and pure-breed dogs with dental plaque, calculus or gingivitis assessed the efficacy of a barrier dental sealant.1
A single application of a high-viscosity barrier dental sealant following a professional teeth cleaning procedure and weekly application of a low-viscosity formulation of the same sealant (OraVet) provided significant reduction in plaque and calculus. |
Parameters evaluated included plaque, calculus, gingival bleeding and gingivitis indices. |
Cumulative mean difference between treated and untreated teeth was statistically significant for plaque, calculus and degree of gingivitis at 4 weeks, and for plaque, calculus and gingival bleeding at 8 weeks. |
